Description

Lite-Link Portable Cross-band Repeater

Improve your long-range radio coverage in locations with difficult terrain and/or vast distances—use a Lite-Link Cross-band Portable Repeater.

The Link-Link Portable Cross-band Repeater

Conquer signal-blocking terrain features and extend the range of portable and mobile radios—use a Lite-Link Portable Repeater to improve long-range radio communications

Whether you're working in remote locations, running a special event, or responding to a crisis—good radio coverage is the key to a smooth operation.

Yet these situations often compromise two-way radio communications due to:

  • Lack of communications infrastructure.
  • Signal-blocking terrain features such as mountains or buildings.
  • An operational area that is simply too vast.

Lite-Link portable repeaters are optimized for use with handheld radios during field operations and events. Our portable repeaters can be rapidly set up in less than three minutes to expand your two-way radio coverage area— improving communications, safety and productivity over a wide area.

A Low Power Portable Repeater Module:

Extremely low standby power consumption means this repeater operate from lightweight, portable battery packs that are easily deployed.

Every Lite-Link Portable Repeater comes standard with a DTMF decoder to remotely enable and disable the repeater into standby mode to improve power power savings when the repeater is not required.

Rapid Deployment:

No technical configuration or tools are necessary. You don’t even need to open the case. Simply connect an antenna, plug in the power and start communicating.

Designed for simplicity and rapid deployment, Lite-Link Portable Repeaters are shipped ready for use. The plug-and-play assembly with intuitive connections for power and antennas ensure a correct set-up every time, while the automatic power-on feature and absence of any user controls means that this repeater can be deployed by even the least technical person on your team.

Industry-Leading Size and Portability:

Get maximum performance with minimal weight! Lite-Link Portable Repeaters boast an industry-leading compact, lightweight and user-friendly design that is ideal for fast-response situations and carrying over difficult terrain. Originally designed for Search and Rescue responders, Lite-Link repeaters are optimized for improving two-way radio coverage for field personnel who are using handheld, portable radios.

Extremely Rugged:

We've packaged our Lite-Link repeater electronics into a Pelican case with weatherproof power and antenna connections—it will perform in the most demanding environments.

FEATURES:
  • Built-in over-the-air "low battery" alert warning.
  • Built-in mobile duplexer.
  • Extremely low power consumption.
  • DTMF decoder for remotely enabling/disabling standby mode.
  • Compact size for easy transportation.
  • Lightweight.
  • Rapidly deployed by non-technical people.
  • No tools required for set-up.
  • Linkable - two cross-band repeaters can be linked together for longer-range communications.
  • Flex-Power Technology*

*Flex-Power Technology
Each Lite-Link Portable Repeater Module can operate from multiple power sources simultaneously. Every repeater has two power ports that accept 12 Volt DC power. These ports are isolated, enabling the user to connect either:

  • One external 12 VDC battery pack.
  • Two external 12 VDC battery pack simultaneously to increase run-time.
  • One 12 VDC power supply and one external 12 VDC battery simultaneously. In this case the battery will provide back-up power if the power supply (such as generator, or shore power) fails.
  • DC Vehicle Power Adapter for vehicular power applications.
  • Dual power ports also allow the user to “hot-swap” power sources without powering down the repeater.

*To ensure proper compliance with Industry Canada requirements, repeaters cannot be pre-programmed with unlicensed frequencies. Please specify frequencies when ordering. We can assist with Industry Canada frequency licensing applications if required.

Typical Repeater Deployment Scenario

This is the most common deployment scenario for our portable repeaters when being used to improve radio coverage for field teams in difficult terrain.

People Often Ask....

What's the range?

We get it, range is an important consideration when relying on a portable repeater.

Range is a specifications that is highly dependent on terrain and where you choose to deploy the repeater.

The antenna system, and where you choose to deploy it, has the biggest impact on range.

The Lite-Link portable repeater comes with a high-performance antenna system.

For best results, deploy it in a high location that maximizes the view over your desired coverage area.

We've had some customers experience a range of up to 100 km (62 miles) when the repeater has been placed on mountain peaks.

Keep in mind, this product is designed to be used in localized areas for temporary projects in difficult terrain, such as a Search & Rescue operation.

What's the battery life?

A single P20 Battery Pack will power a Lite-Link portable repeaters for approximately 3 days*

Two P20 Battery Packs are included with this portable repeater system. Both battery packs can be connected to the repeater simultaneously to longer run-time.

*Run-times may vary depending on usage and conditions. These values are based on calculations that may or may not account for unforeseen usage, technical and environmental circumstances.

Can I program it myself?

Basically, No.....not unless you have an experienced technician and an RF service monitor.

The repeater module is supported by an RF duplexer, which is a highly sensitive filtering device that comes pre-tuned to your desired frequencies.

If you want to program other frequencies into this portable repeater, you'll need to either re-tune the duplexer to match, or get an alternate duplexer tuned to your new frequencies and then swap the duplexers out.

It's all doable, but not by the end-user.

Give us a call to discuss options if you need to add frequencies to your Lite-Link.

Can I connect this to solar?

Yes. While we don't supply the components for a solar power system, we do include a battery accessory cable with lugs that let you connect a large, deep-cycle battery as the power source. From there, you can add your own solar panels and solar charge controller for the battery.

That being said, this portable repeater has a very low standby power draw, and depending on your usage time-frame and the amount of transmitting you do through the repeater, a deep-cycle battery could potentially run a Lite-Link portable repeater for a weeks before needing a charge.

Why is the repeater 5 watts?

A lot of people think more power is better.

In fact, it is not.

Since this portable repeater was designed to be used with field teams operating handheld radios, which are also 5 watts, we opted to use a 5 watt power output on the Lite-Link repeater as well.

Doing this, results in a balanced communication system that ensures the repeater can't out perform the handheld radios.

Do I need a frequency licence?

Yes. In Canada & the USE you do need a repeater frequency license in the area where you plan to use the repeater.

This is a simple process in Canada, and we can assist you with it.

In Canada, the licences are provided and enforced by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada (ISED).
